President Trump has joined other prominent Republicans in condemning the white nationalist rally that has led to a state of emergency in Charlottesville, Virginia.
The president tweeted:”We ALL must be united & condemn all that hate stands for. There is no place for this kind of violence in America. Lets come together as one!”
Trump’s rebuke of the demonstrators in Virginia follows Speaker of the House Paul Ryan’s strong condemnation. Ryan wrote that “The views fueling the spectacle in Charlottesville are repugnant. Let it only serve to unite Americans against this kind of vile bigotry.”
Trump and Ryan’s words have been met with praise and indignation. As of now, police are working to disband the rally which began over a controversy surrounding a statue of General Robert E Lee.
